Luv-A-Rug Designated An Essential Service in the category of sanitation/cleaning services by the Emergency Program Act of BC
During the COVID-19 Pandemic, the B.C. government has invoked the Extraordinary powers of the Emergency Program Act to protect the people of BC.
Under those extraordinary powers, the government has listed on their website what they deem to be essential services.
As you can see below in the clip from their website, Luv-A-Rug falls under the category of sanitation/cleaning services.

The Protocol We Use To Keep Our Customers Safe
- Full decontamination of the workplace done every day with Clorox 360 System
- An HGI hydroxyl generator running 24/7 to purify the air which also kills airborne viruses and bacteria
- Nitrile Gloves worn by staff
- Any pens required to sign invoices are wiped clean with disinfectant wipes before each use
- The Luv-A-Rug dry room runs at very high temperatures. Evidence has come forward to suggest viruses are not able to survive in such hot conditions and that your rugs come out virtually "pasteurized".

The Protocol We Use On Our Customer's Rugs
- Dusting of rugs to remove all dust on your rugs that could be harboring virus (our staff wear approved filtration).
- Full washing of rugs with plenty of shampoo, agitation and water to remove contaminates. This makes the rug not only sparkle like new, but will also be healthier than it ever has been for your home and family.
- Complete rinsing with copious volumes of water to remove any remaining contamination and then extracting 98% of water from your rugs.
- Rug are then hung in our dry-room overnight with high heat (shown to contribute to destroying viruses and a full concentration of the Hydroxyl technology shown to contribute to the killing of viruses.
- Full inspection and re-cleaning as needed.
In short, the important thing to remember about our service is that the soap and heat we use to wash your rugs breaks down the fat layer around the virus. It's just like when your wash your hands except we use stronger cleaners, a whole lot more agitation, and much hotter water!
